TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE FOUNDATION
Supporting Cheyenne Mountain Schools
The Tradition of Excellence Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created to promote and support programs of academic, artistic, and athletic excellence.  Founded in 1988, the Foundation provides a tax-deductible vehicle for citizens, businesses and foundations to contribute to Cheyenne Mountain School District 12. The Tradition of Excellence Foundation operates independently from, but in cooperation with, the D12 Board of Education and district administration officials and staff to identify specific needs that the school district is unable to fund, either by law or by budgetary limitations.

So What's the Problem?
State and federal dollars fund less than 86% of District 12's current budget. That leaves just over $4 million to be raised locally each year through mill levy overrides, fundraising, and other sources. The current economic downturn has placed burdens on all state-funded budgets. Even with steps being taken to align district spending with revenues,
programs will have to be scaled back or cut unless the community provides funding over and above what we already pay in taxes for our public schools.  This is the new reality for outstanding K-12 schools across the country, and it is no accident that property values are higher in communities that offer exceptional public schools.
